This week at EnergyEarth, my focus has been on updating a contact list of 1,400 professionals in an excel spreadsheet. Going along with my initial Experiential Learning Contract, spending time on this project is definitely sharpening my excel skill. I’m learning how to format better, work faster, and experimenting with making the sheet more covenant and readable.
This contact update is also allowing for me to research and view hundreds of different job descriptions from hundreds of different companies. Not only am I learning about these companies, but I am gaining insight into their time line. Including, mergers name changes, companies that are no longer in business.
Considering I am only roughly 10% finished with this assignment, I believe it will take me most of this week and maybe some of next week to complete it. Though the work is tedious, it is a great opportunity for me to work on my PC and Microsoft skills.
I am hoping to shadow project management more in the near future. In doing this, I’ll be able to learn more about their operations and perhaps finds ways in which I can be of assistance while I am here. Spending time with accounting is also on my list. Understanding exactly what a their job looks like will be a great opportunity to connect what I’ve learned in accounting class to the real world of business management.
I’m continuing to enjoy my time here in Chattanooga, and look forward to what the coming weeks may have in store.
