Experiential Learning Blog 4

Since my lost blog post, my days in the office have quite monotonous. Work at Energy Earth has been fairly slow, so much of the work I have been is primarily internal.

My latest assignment was to update a list of the CEO’s 1,500 contacts on an excel spread shit. This meant I had to research each contact in order to update their employment information and whether they could be potential leads for the company. After 4 days of work, I have currently finished 600 of the contacts.

This is not the kind of work I necessarily enjoy doing, however I see the importance in it. It is exciting when I come across a contact that is now working for company that seems like a perfect partner for Energy Earth.

This assignment is also honing my organizational skills and work speed in Microsoft excel. Not only that, but I’ve been able to learn about hundreds of businesses and positions that I’ve never heard. This assignment has also given me great insight into seemingly effective and not so effective LinkedIn profiles.

Sitting all day and doing the same thing over and over can make one quite irritable. For that reason, I am learning to take short breaks every 45 minuets. I’m look forward to finishing this assignment and moving on to something a little more dynamic.
