Had a wonderful week at Energy Earth. I had the opportunity to not only continue working with supply chain, but was able to shadow both project management and our graphics department.
In shadowing project management, I sat down first with Catherine. Some notes i took, post meet up where as follows:
Catherine shadow:
-Discussed her role in PM.
-Talked about customer acquisition. Cold calling/selling.
-Her background in non-profit (Girl Scouts of America)
-Editing presentation information for graphics department.
-Discussed culture of company
I then sat with Chris form project management to see what he was working on. Chris gave me great insight into what they do and the projects they are currently working on and more.
-Discussed his role in PM
- Reviewed myattrewards site
- Made edits to Policy page to remove “EnergyEarth” from att’s personalized website
-Discused his history with Unum (large insurance company). He noted how different it is working for a small company.
How much more satisfying his job is now. He mentioned how impressed he was with the system that Jeff and his
team had in place and how Unum’s system in comparison was a “train wreck”. At EE it takes seconds to make a change,
at Unum it can take months. He feels more engaged, more hands on, and more productive at EE. - He touched on a great aspect of the EE culture, I hope to help cultivate and maintain – he said it’s hard to tell who his
supervisor is. They all work close together and trust each other with responsibilities. No ones hanging over their head.
Input and feedback is welcome. No one rules with an iron fist. We work as a team towards a common goal.
-This is the future of business (counterexamples- focusing on tasks and less on titles)
-We talked about Just Energy as a customer and reviewed the data we have for them.
-Talked about the EE value to it’s customers. We give companies the ability to market their rewards for double what they’re paying
(up to $200 in rewards when purchasing energy efficient products). Where as most companies can not do this.
Today is my last day interning this week. I told my supervisor my interest in project management and will be working with them more. I’ll be reviewing EE’s new CRM software, Hubspot and going over our many presentations for potential new costumers. I look forward to it!
