Week 1

Week1 of my new internship at Energy Earth was went wonderfully. The first day I was welcomed by my supervisor, Mike. Shorty after Emily, director of Human resources, introduced me to the team and we completed my on boarding, I began working. The first assignment given to me was to research popular products form a list of over 30 companies. I was asked to list the product name and price as well as model number. This project gave me a great opportunity to work in Excel in making a comprehensive, readable and well organized list. I then received a crash course on our new warehouse software, NetSuite. I was able to ask questions about what the staff liked and disliked about the software as well as common issues that arrives with the software and how they combat them. Over the next two days, I shadowed and worked directly with supply chain associate, Kala. Kala showed me her process for updating inventory in NetSuite, placing product orders with various companies and gratefully answered any questions I asked about her position. I spent time doing basic intern jobs like counting inventory, filling customer envelops and taking out recyclables in the warehouse. All in all, it was a great first week. I quickly felt at ease around my associates and learned a great deal. I look forward to surveying more of the company over the coming weeks and continue working towards my goals in gaining as much hands on experience as I can.
